Image: Boys are told to 'be a man' from before they are even able to tie their own shoelaces.

If you asked a boy if they remembered the first time they were told to "be a man," chances are he could not pinpoint that moment or place. As it becomes hard for women to remember a time before their perceptions of their bodies were controlled by those around them, can boys remember a time they weren't supposed to be hardened against expectations of manhood?
Image: The collection BOYHOOD explores this transformative and tumultuous journey where boys are faced with a world where societal expectations begin to mold one’s male identity. From boyhood, to adolescence, to entering manhood boys are fed this image that being a man is defined by things like power,money and sex. 

This collection rejects society's molding of the male gender and offers a female lense into the story of boyhood - starting at a time before these implanted societal beliefs become their reality - where a boy is innocent, carefree and passionate. I urge boyhood to act as a vehicle for customers and viewers to reimagine a masculinity that honors both vulnerability, strength and that child-like sensibility. 

Here masculinity is reimagined. There are no limits, boxes or labels - only fluidity, vulnerability and sensibility.

Alicia Corradini is an Italian-Colombian-British fashion designer who was born and raised in London. Having grown up in the UK with immigrant parents Alicia weaves her multicultural background into her work by subtly sewing in colors and symbols which celebrate these cultures.  Her design philosophy merges masculine and feminine properties, challenging gender stereotypes while incorporating sustainable practices.
