remember me when i leave

It’s a strange thing, going back. You expect the walls to look the same and the faces to remain unchanged. But maybe that’s what growing up really is: you don’t realize the parts of yourself you’ve left behind, caught in a limbo, no longer able to slip between the cracks of where you once belonged. Maybe they drift where all lost things go, into the space between what was and what could have been.

remember me when i leave is an exploration of the fluid concept of belonging, questioning what ‘home’ means in a world where physical spaces fade, but memories endure.
Drawing from the sentimentality of lost and forgotten possessions, it reflects on emotional attachment, revealing what we cherish and what we let slip away. Inspired by the complexities of a fragmented identity existing across separate places, the collection examines how we reconcile our past with our present within a liminal realm.
Using a dollhouse as a metaphor for an identity rooted in the definite suburban structures of the past, now distorting and transitioning into the ambiguity of the present, the collection explores the tension between conformity and individuality. Familiar garments evoke estrangement through distorted silhouettes, while fabrications inspired by domestic settings reintroduce comfort and nostalgia, illustrating the journey of self-discovery within shifting, impermanent spaces of memory.
To my lovely friends who came together to bring the world behind my eyelids to life, thank you for your trust, generosity and talent.

Bio

Caitlyn Lim is a designer and director based in New York, recognized for her multidisciplinary approach shaped by a foundation in fine arts. This background informs her creation of fashion experiences that dissolve traditional boundaries, weaving together film, performance, and production design. Collaboration sits at the heart of her practice, opening up fashion as a narrative medium that stretches into expansive realms of storytelling and world-building.

Guided by the influence of surrealist art, she gives equal weight to the craftsmanship of her designs and the environments they inhabit. Her work constructs realities that are at once uncanny and radically familiar, yet elusive in definition.

She views fashion as a vessel that preserves the human touch through craft and materiality. By documenting the past and safeguarding memories, it holds stories of those who came before us, creating connections that transcend the limits of time and space.

During her time at Parsons, Caitlyn gained a multifaceted perspective of the industry by working across its many facets, from producing video content for the 2024 CFDA Awards to working for product development studios that produce for brands like Thom Browne and Jason Wu.

These experiences inform her ability to design holistically, with an awareness and understanding of the many moving parts behind the scene.
