Memento

This collection, titled “Memento,” which draws inspiration from the designer’s personal history, national identity, and poetic introspection, aims to capture the essence of a life lived through cathartically experiencing memories. The designs reference Latin-American motifs and history as well as literary texts to explore personal, yet universal memories. If all moments in life will inevitably become history, the garments explore the transformation from present moment to heritage through poetry and symbolism. The collection's looks each represent a pivotal period in a person's life, and they are each connected to a corresponding poem that illuminates that moment. These poems, written by writers who shaped the designer’s understanding of the world during her formative years, transcend boundaries of  gender, culture, language, and even time.
