NEVERNARA: Playing Dress Up in a World that No Longer Fits

“I used to think the years would go by in order, that you get older one year at a time. But it's not like that. It happens overnight.”

- Haruki Murakami

Nevernara reflects on the complex emotions of growing up. The title blends “Neverland” with the Korean word “nara,” meaning world, capturing a space shaped by nostalgia and imagination. The project began from my parents’ closet, forming a foundation for a narrative rooted in childhood. The collection explores the act of playing dress-up in clothes too big, mirroring the dissonance between childhood dreams of adulthood and the reality of growing up. It speaks to the fear and uncertainty that come with age, and the bittersweet realization that what once seemed like a dream can feel overwhelming. Nevernara is a reflection on memory, and a reminder to care for the inner child we often leave behind.
