This collection finds the intersection of graphic design and pattern making in fashion through a set of vintage paper doll clothes. The illustrations that depict the clothes in tandem with the format of foldable paper cutouts become recontextualized in a fashioned sense. Drawing inspiration from both the cutting techniques and design language of Cristobal Balenciaga, a reinterpretation of doll clothes come to life in unique materials and silhouettes. Pattern cutting no longer serves the design but instead becomes the design process itself. Through manipulation, textiles are reimagined to mimic the pre-existing archetype. Planes are flattened or expanded to explore the relations of dimensions in paper and garments alike.
