The Perfect Human Being

The Perfect Human Being is a thesis collection that criticizes the behavior of attempting to mold others according to a person’s liking. It is inspired by my personal liking of ball jointed dolls and my fashion taste by which I was inspired growing. With pastel and trims, clad with thermoplastic tinted with a spot of food dye, the collection molds the wearer into a movable doll that shuffles around mechanically, without concerning the natural movement a person has. This is served as an irony of people’s Sisyphean attempt of trying to make someone a person they are not.

Bio

Jizhuo Li is a fashion designer currently in New York City. Born in Shenzhen, China, she is used to randomness, chaos, new people, and interesting new ideas flowing in and out of her life. She is into structural garments with an interesting shape and build and would use innovative methods to make them happen. She also likes pink, historical costume, dolls, and delicate things such as embroideries and fine fabrics like silk, thus obtaining a peculiar set of skills ranging from embroidery and CAD to sculpting and identifying 15 shades of pink. Jizhuo does her work meticulously, and while a maximalist, try hard to make everything in her head something that exists. She sees her mind as a portable doll house, an experimental field that she carries around the world to exchange ideas with others, so as to learn something new.
