The Lore

“Every thousand years it's a new religion.

Unc in the streets screamin', 'New religion.'

Pastor got diamonds, rockin' True Religion.

Pray to who? You must be trippin'.

Bitch, I'm prayin' to my money racks.

They said we livin' in Revelations.

Vaccine got us mutatin'.

So fuck it then, I'ma go take it.”

- RXKnephew - American Tterroristt: 1:23.
“The Lore” is a story of the cycle of humanity through the lens of hyperreality, reconfiguring the stages of the human timeline into an abridged story solely informed by cyberspace and fiction.

The story is of man's journey from beast to overman; from creation, to dark ages, utopia, mutation, then rebirth, inspired by Nietszche’s “Thus Spoke Zarathustra."

The clothes combine postmodern irony and hyperreal simulacra in a ready to wear construction, inspired by bootleg and costume fashion objects.

This collection tells an absurdist tale of human existence.

Image: the camel:

"There is much that is difficult for the spirit, the strong reverent spirit that would bear much: but the difficult and the most difficult are what its strength demands. What is difficult? asks the spirit that would bear much, and kneels down like a camel wanting to be well loaded.

What is most difficult, O heroes, asks the spirit that would bear much, that I may take it upon my self and exult in my strength? Is it not humbling oneself to wound ones haughtiness? Letting one's folly shine to mock one's wisdom?"

-Nietzsche
Image: the lion:

"Who is the great dragon whom the spirit will no longer call lord and god? Thou shalt is the name of the great dragon. But the spirit of the lion says, 'I will'.

'Thou shalt' lies in his way, sparkling like gold, an animal covered with scales; and on every scale shines a golden 'thou shalt'. Values, thousands of years old, shine on these scales; and thus speaks the mightiest of dragons: 'All value of all things shines on me. All value has long been created, and I am all created value. Verily, there shall be no more "I will." ' "

-Nietzsche
Image: the child:

"But say, my brothers, what can the child do that even the lion could not do? Why must the preying lion still become a child? The child is innocence and forgetting, a new beginning, a game, a self-propelled wheel, a first movement, a sacred 'Yes'. For the game of creation, my brothers, a sacred 'Yes' is needed: the spirit now wills his own will, and he who had been lost to the world now conquers his own world."

-Nietzsche
Image: the third kind:

"I have learned to walk: ever since, I let myself run. I have learned to fly: ever since, I do not want to be pushed before moving along.

Now I am light, now I fly, now I see myself beneath myself, now a god dances through me.

Thus spoke Zarathustra."

-Nietzsche
Image: the ubermensch:

"What is destructible
Is but a parable;
What fails ineluctably
The undeclarable,
Here it was seen,
Here it was action;
The Eternal-Feminine
Lures to perfection."

-Goethe

Bio

Miles “Yeoy” Gaffney is a multidisciplinary designer and music artist, born in Brazil and raised in NYC, who combines reality and fantasy in unexpected ways.

“Yeoy” is his alter ego of sorts, a virtual entity born from the depths of our new astral world; cyberspace.

Miles’s expertise lies in conceptualization, combining the simplest of ideas in a way that creates something entirely new.

With his iterative making process, outside-the-box patternmaking, and prolific sewing skills, Miles creates real clothing from unreality.
