Chrysalsim SS'26 By Shreejee Gupta.

Photography By Nitin Sadna, Featuring Camila Rousseaux and Dakshita Dhiman.
Chrysalsim is a feeling of tranquility, protected from the outside world which depicts a sense of comfort. Inspired by the transition of metamorphosis and the symbol of the spun cocoon, from the caterpillar, a thing reborn, a thing anew, a thing fragile. This exploration forms the stylistic basis of my collection, which aims to carry a narrative to the wearer, a series of works that symbolizes the ‘inner world’ and the wearer to embrace embodiment of each cycle metamorphosis transcendence themselves.
Chrysalis is a translucent stained glass, swaying with silk threads waiting for a butterfly to emerge with black and colored wings. This defines the surrealism of silhouettes via geometry and delicate movement, the transparency shelters the exploration of artisanal embroidery in the collection. The Chrysalis is a work of art with intricate glass-blowing techniques in each garment, drawing the onlooker in for further appreciation as a metaphor vis a vis to a butterfly.

Incorporation of metal bullion wires in a form of intricating the traditional approach of weave
and weft pattern. Used as embroidery panels throughout the Garments and Accessories,
paired with glass jewelry made with flameworking.

The approach on the Chrysalis glassblowing is unique, two thick layers are blown and shaped
into a mold. After the initial shape of a chrysalis has been created the outer layer gives it surrealist protection
like a cocoon, it ensures of the glass facets, to reveal the inner sparkle of the
clear glass material.

I call this collection a definite mini collection for what more is to come from me as a designer. A metaphorical symbol of letting go of the past that allows the future. This is an act of farewell and greeting to fragile beauty.
