In Pieces, Still Whole

Shriya Myneni’s thesis collection, “In Pieces, Still Whole,” explores identity as something shifting, evolving, and in constant flux. Rooted in the question, "How much of yourself can you remove before you stop being you?", the collection reflects on transformation as an ongoing process rather than a fixed moment. Through garments that appear to morph, unravel, grow, and reconstruct, she reflects on transformation as an ongoing process rather than a fixed moment. Questioning stable notions of self, Shriya designs with the intention that people may recognize parts of their own journeys within the garments — in the ways they come apart, rebuild, or carry visible traces of what once was.
Her silhouettes draw from emotional memory and cultural reference, using form to open a dialogue about what it means to become. Inspired by historical understructures that shaped the body’s outline, her work reimagines traditional foundations through a contemporary lens. Each piece reflects on how identity changes over time — breaking apart, coming back together, and always moving toward something new.

Bio

Shriya Myneni is a recent graduate from Parsons School of Design in New York City, where she earned her BFA in Fashion Design. Raised in India and having lived in Indonesia and Canada, her upbringing exposed her to many ways of thinking about identity, culture, and belonging. Growing up around traditional craftsmanship taught her to value patience, detail, and the meaning behind making. Shriya’s work is rooted in building silhouettes that feel layered, exploring memory, self, and collective histories. She is interested in how form can hold traces of emotion — how the way a garment takes shape can reflect what we carry within ourselves. Through her designs, she thinks about clothing as something that can quietly hold onto stories: not always obvious, but always present. With every project, Shriya aims to create work that feels thoughtful, grounded, and emotionally resonant.
