“Mǎn - a modern take on tradition”

This collection focuses on the exploration of the heritage of the cultural ethnic groups in china, specifically Manchus which is the ethnic minority that I come from. Aming to find a renewed voice within modernism’s fluid landscape. inviting the world to form new understanding with the Manchus, and with a culture that evolved for thousands of years.
Using traditional elements of pattern making, material use and adding a twist with modern techniques and technologies. Utilising fashion as a tool of communication and a powerful element in which I can express my origins.

Bio

Born in China and raised in Singapore, Silin brings a global perspective to her creative work, shaped by years of immersion in diverse cultures across continents. Now based in New York City, she blends a deep reverence for tradition with a sharp eye for contemporary expression. Silin's artistic journey began at a young age with oil painting and mixed media, laying the foundation for a visual language that later evolved into fashion design. Her belief that fashion is a living, breathing part of everyday life informs her approach: deeply personal, culturally grounded, and conceptually ambitious.

While studying at Parsons School of Design, Silin was awarded scholarships from The New School, became a finalist in the CFDA x 360 DEI Awards, and had her collaborative work with Tory Burch featured in Vogue.
