Image: Nubism is a reinterpretation of the traditional Korean quilting technique Saek-sil Nubi through a contemporary lens—exploring the understated sensuality of the female form, inspired by the elegant draping of the 1930s. By blending handcraft with modern silhouettes and materials, Nubism bridges Eastern and Western aesthetics, balancing structure with softness, vulnerability with strength. Quilting lines echo the natural form, while layers of sheer and sharp tailoring to tell a story—of past and future, memory and reinvention.
Image: The top is a cape jacket made of nude sheer net lace from Mood Fabrics in New York, shaped through nubi quilting with high-density braided rope sourced from Saeki Textile in Yongsan, Seoul.
Image: The bottom skirt is layered with tulle lace and draped with 10 momme satin georgette, sourced from SilkStory at Dongdaemun Fabric Market in Seoul, South Korea. The skirt is highlighted by a nubi quilting detail at the back, crafted with a variety of colorful high-density braided cords using traditional oriental knotting techniques, sourced from Saeki Textile in Yongsan, Seoul.
