Varsha Xueying Liu
Bio
Varsha Ying Liu is a Chinese-American fashion design student currently completing her senior year at Parsons School of Design, graduating in May 2025. Raised in Long Island, New York, her work reflects a quiet dialogue between her Chinese heritage and her experiences growing up in the U.S.
With a background in painting and drawing, Varsha approaches fashion with an artist’s sensitivity, treating each garment as a canvas for exploring texture, memory, and emotion. Much of her inspiration comes from nature, weather, and the feeling of protection, shaped by her personal experiences living with a sunlight allergy.
Her designs are delicate, hand-worked, and often integrate jewelry elements into the fabric, creating pieces that celebrate both vulnerability and inner strength. Varsha’s work has been featured in several independent magazines, reflecting her interest in storytelling and craftsmanship.
Looking ahead, she hopes to continue growing as a designer, creating pieces that feel personal, thoughtful, and emotionally resonant.
