Victoria Tennant

Collection
Image: This collection began as a personal exploration of fear, not in the sense of being paralyzed by it, but in the desire to confront it and transform it into something empowering. I became interested in what it means to reject fear, particularly as a woman navigating expectations around identity, appearance, and self-expression. That led me to think about the women who inspire me, like Courtney Love and Cyndi Lauper, who are unapologetically themselves and refuse to conform to society’s rules. Their defiance and authenticity helped shape my vision. The collection draws heavily from 90s fashion, and lingerie slip dresses, in particular, feel bold and empowering to me. Despite the stigma felt like an act of bravery.

My approach to creating this collection was entirely different from my past work. I spent hours draping with silk, lace, and vintage pieces, letting intuition guide every decision. Using repurposed materials allowed me to connect more deeply with the process and the sense of timelessness I hope my work conveys. Every garment is rooted in the idea of embracing vulnerability while expressing strength, transforming fear into fearlessness, and hesitation into unapologetic beauty.

Bio

Victoria Tennant is a fourth-year BFA Fashion Design student originally from Miami, Florida. Raised in a creative household by an artist parent, she developed a passion for design early on, beginning to sew as a child. Her journey came full circle when she began teaching at the very studio where she first learned, sparking a lasting interest in education and community engagement.

Victoria’s design work is grounded in experimentation, combining diverse techniques and aesthetics as she refines a voice that feels deeply personal and authentic. For her, fashion is not only a medium of self-discovery but also a tribute to the women who have inspired her. Each garment she creates brings her closer to both.
