Thesis Statement

From Trails to Treads is a reflective collection of the evolution of the outdoor industry and its increasing adjacent positioning to the fashion industry. Wearing outdoor gear has become a symbol of leisure, health, and ultimately wealth, instead of signaling outdoor interests. Being guilty of the above, I designed and created four shoes reflecting the irony of a consumerist industry whose designs are now catered towards a demand for aesthetic produced in cyclical seasons, rather than long-lasting functionality.
