Image: The Mimi shoe: a faux fur textile created using bamboo hand cut to various lengths beaded with brass sequins and gold seed beads is applied to the heel hand carved out of poplar wood. The upper mimics a fold over boot in bootie form in an attempt to distort the shape of the foot in a fun flirty way.

Image: The Alex heel features a curved walnut heel inspired by the curved shape of beaver teeth. This shoe also had a hand cut faux feather out of leather, and a wrapping detail on the heel inspire by fly fishing.
Image: Meant to mimic faux fur, the Rhea heel is completely covered in hand-cut beads made from birch bark collected from downed trees in the Catskills.

Bio

I am a Brooklyn born and raised womens shoe designer inspired by natural textures and materials. In my thesis collection and beyond, I aim to have a heavy hand in craft, and design with material life and sustainability in mind. By designing women's heels inspired by my family’s heritage and traditions—including American football, fly fishing, woodworking, and fur trapping—I am attempting to merge a legacy of craftsmanship and a deep respect for nature with my personal identity as a woman.
