Tomoe Lin

“Traveling Flowers” is a collection that was inspired by Tomoe Lin’s life in East Harlem. The collection centers around the analogy that every person is a seed who cannot choose the ground they are first planted, but each individual deserves to bloom where they can be nurtured best. The products in this collection are all associated with flowers carefully picked by Tomoe to symbolize a traveling flower as someone carries her products. Growing up in a low income household, she grew to understand not everyone was handed things that came naturally to others. An education, a kind family, or the chance to do what one wanted in life. She believes everyone deserves a chance to pursue their dreams, and if that takes leaving an environment that has nurtured you since birth, it’s ok. The act of leaving an environment will not mean one is leaving behind the feelings of gratitude, family, or friends.
