Bustling Garden
“Flora and fauna of home, personified”
Bustling Garden is a reflection of the personified flora and fauna in my beloved childhood collection of children’s books. Congruently, it represents the flowers and vines native to my family’s small polycultural farm in rural Massachusetts. This collection realizes the fantasy that the plants and creatures living at my childhood home have a human-like will to gather and collect pieces of their surrounding natural world to clothe and adorn themselves with its beauty.

Bio
Lydia Snow Austin is a designer and textile artist based in New York City and New England. Her work is primarily driven by nostalgia, expressed through handwork such as quilting and embellishment, and demonstrated in natural fibers on classic and romantic silhouettes.
Lydia's collection title, "Bustling Garden," speaks to the goings on of a fantastical garden where plants and creatures dwell just as humans do. Hydrangeas, beetles, cosmos, chipmunks, and the rest all live in harmony with each other and the world around them. These characters all have their own unique sense of dress, adorned with petals, fur, and so much more.
