Don't Weep, Willow
This collection is an homage to my mother, an artist who no longer paints.
Don’t Weep, Willow is years of unsaid words.
The weeping willow becomes both metaphor and method—
a symbol of bending without breaking,
mourning without words.

Through original prints of my mother's paintings and my painting custom printed on mulberry silk in Suzhou, China - the City of Silk, I translate memory to material. Each of the 10 looks is crafted from 100% silk, 8 of which are made from mulberry silk.
Like the silkworm, mothers quietly unravel themselves to weave a more beautiful life for their daughters.
This is not a typical mother-daughter story.
It speaks through long nights of crafting where words have failed.
It resists neat endings.
It is a refusal to forget.

Bio
PEARL LU
Pearl Lu is a fashion design student from Queens, New York, with roots in a Beijing-based family of artists, writers, lecturers, and calligraphers. A graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School with a fine arts focus, she later found her creative home at Parsons School of Design. Alongside fashion, Pearl pursued photography—a pivotal path that led her into the vibrant world of prints. Her Materiality Thesis Collection fuses fine art and fashion into a deeply personal narrative, exploring maternal love, sacrifice, and identity through tactile storytelling and bold, emotionally charged design.
